FAQ
Who is this chess club for?
This club is for Our Lady of Mt. Carmel students who want to learn, practice, and improve at chess in a fun and structured after-school environment. Beginners are welcome, and more experienced players will be given opportunities to grow.
Does my child need to know how to play chess already?
No. Students do not need prior chess experience. We will help brand-new players learn the rules while also giving returning players more challenging lessons and games.
What should students bring?
Students do not need to bring a chess set. The Next Move Chess provides boards, pieces, and lesson materials.
How does pickup work?
Parents will choose the appropriate pickup method during registration. We will follow the school’s after-school procedures and coordinate with families as needed.
What happens if my child misses a class?
Missing a class is okay. Because this is a group program with a fixed schedule, missed classes are not individually refunded, but students can continue with the group when they return.
Can beginners and stronger players be in the same club?
Yes. Chess naturally allows students to work at different levels. Coaches can adjust games, challenges, and lesson support based on each student’s experience.
What is the refund policy?
If a family needs to cancel before the session begins, please contact The Next Move Chess as soon as possible. Once the session has started, refunds may be limited because seats, staffing, and materials are planned around enrollment.
Who can I contact with questions?
Families can contact The Next Move Chess at thenextmovechess@gmail.com.
